How to negotiate your salary for a remote job
Pay for remote roles varies a lot. Some companies pay one global rate, while others adjust by country, so ask early how they set salaries.
Research before you talk numbers. Compare similar roles on job boards and salary sites, and decide three figures: the pay you want, the pay you would happily accept and the lowest you will take.
Let the employer name a number first if you can. When you answer, give a range where the bottom is a figure you would be glad to receive, and explain it with your results and skills, not your personal expenses.
If the base pay cannot move, ask about other value: a signing bonus, paid equipment, a learning budget, extra leave or flexible hours. Always get the final offer in writing.
