How to write a short cover letter for a remote job

A good remote cover letter is short. Hiring managers read dozens of them, so aim for three or four paragraphs that fit on one screen.

Open with the role and one sentence on why this company interests you, using something specific such as a product, a value or a recent announcement. Generic praise is easy to spot.

In the middle, name one problem the team probably has and show how your experience solves it, with a concrete result. End with a simple request for a conversation.

Mention your remote readiness in one line: your time zone, your tools and your workspace. Then proofread carefully, since your writing is the first sample of how you will communicate on the job.
