How to build a portfolio that proves you can do the job

A portfolio replaces experience when you are starting out. It shows employers what you can produce instead of asking them to trust a claim on your resume.

Pick three strong pieces rather than ten average ones. For each, explain the problem, what you did and the result, even if the project was a practice exercise or a volunteer job.

Host everything on one simple page with a short bio and a clear way to contact you. A free website or a public document is enough.

Update it every few months. New work shows you are improving, and it gives you something fresh to mention in applications.
